Engineering

This area is enable owners to freely report any defect or fault they might find on their Gyroplane.

From time to time faults can develop and are found on aircraft, some of these are minor, some are major. Gyro pilots quite often can operate quite insular to other gyro pilots, its not uncommon for pilot’s not to realize the fault they found has occurred on other aircraft and its a surprise to them when they realize theirs is not an isolated incidence.

What we are trying to do at BRA Engineering is to collate ANY fault, defect or breakage, these reports will be collated, looked at and from there we can see if they repeat themselves throughout a fleet or are just one off’s.

By sharing your findings openly you could well save someone’s Life ! Think about that one! it could be your own.

For instance someone reports a crack on the type of aircraft you own, you read about it and go check your aircraft for the same issue, you report your findings and we can start to see if there is a trend or not.

Each report will be looked at and discussed with all the relevant parties - Owner, Manufacturer, LAA, CAA to look at the probable cause, a solution and an assessment as of the implication to the type’s fleet. Safety is Knowledge.

In the first instant email the Engineering Officer of the BRA

Peter Davies - peter.davies@theGyrocopterExperience.co.uk - with the following information, its not obligatory, but it would be very helpful :-

  • Make and type of gyroplane
  • Engine type
  • Serial numbers of both airframe and engine
  • Number of airframe and engine hours
  • Aircraft Registration
  • Owners Name, Address and contact numbers
  • Nature of the fault and circumstances under which is was found

With time these pages will be populated with reports to keep owners aware, but to do this we need your input, so please report anything you find, no matter how trivial you might think it is.

In all cases these reports will be treated in strict confidence and before reports are put on the web page they will be sanitized of Aircraft registration, Owner details, serial no.s etc.
