2011 Forthcoming Events

Please check with organisers prior to departing for any event listed below - these are gyro and/or microlight events.

CAA Safety evenings

The events so far confirmed (As at CAA website 4 Nov 2010) for the coming winter are listed below, although readers should note that one or two previously announced events may have changed their date. As previously announced, the responsibility for organising GA Safety Evenings for the coming season has been taken over by GASCo, the GA Safety Council, to which the CAA is a major contributor. The evenings will continue to be of value to everyone involved in general aviation, whatever they fly, operate or maintain, and logbooks will continue to be signed when requested as proof of attendance!
Please let the organiser know of their intention to attend, to give an idea of probable numbers. Most events are free, although a small charge is sometimes necessary to cover the cost of hiring the venue or providing refreshments. The evenings start at 19:30 unless otherwise advertised, to last approximately 2½ hours including a short break. The main speaker from Flight Operations (GA) is normally accompanied by a guest, and discussion and questions are encouraged.

The Gyrocopter Experience, York is opening its doors to everyone on to come and see the new super-sleek fully enclosed Calidus Gyrocopter that obtained its approval a few weeks ago. There will be a number of them at York on the day, making it a real opportunity to get a close up look, to see them flying, and to talk to the owners about how they are finding them.  For a few lucky attendees, there will be a chance to fly in one, absolutely free. If you have a gyro, then why not pop over for the day. We’re giving away a free copy of the DVD “Top Gear for Gyros” (click here for the web version) to every gyro pilot who flies in on the day.
